Robert is a dramatist in various media, a bestselling author of young adult fiction and a composer. A number of projects on Robert's slate have a musical element, linking back to Robert's rock musician days.
Robert regularly writes for radio. His dramatisation of Allan Sillitoe's classic THE LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER went out in August 2016 in BBC Radio 4's Saturday Drama slot. Featuring a young cast from the East Midlands, the play was directed by Carl Prekopp and produced by Lucinda Mason Brown for Robert's regular radio production company Goldhawk Essential. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07q232z
Robert's new series for CBeebies Radio WATERWAYS launched on 15 March 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/radio/waterways-canal-cruise and continues on Wednesdays until mid-May. It explores in 10 x 5' the importance and wonder of water. This follows on from SOUNDS LIKE THIS which examines the phonic sounds of each letter of the alphabet in story and song (26 x 5', June 2015 launch).
Robert's young adult novel THE EAGLE TRAIL (Walker Books, 2014) and its sequel CODENAME EAGLE (August, 2015) are action/adventure stories set in WW2 Belgium and SW France.
The adrenaline-pounding BOY SOLDIER series of four action/adventure books for young adults, co-written with best-selling thriller writer Andy McNab (Doubleday), has sold over 500,000 copies and has been published around the world.
Theatre projects include A SENSE OF BELONGING which rounded off the Centenary celebrations of Headington School, Oxford (December, 2015) - an extraordinary feat, with a script for a large cast of over 70 talented women - and a revival of I COULD ALWAYS FIND TEARS at Roedean School, Brighton (June, 2016).
